This past weekend, we decided to do something as a family and take a road trip to the Focus on the Family Center in Colorado Springs. Ok, confession. Everything we do is as a family b/c well really, we have no choice. Where we go, our kids go. That free nanny that does all the hard work still hasn't responded to my ads. Nonetheless, we still tried to make it a special "family" event! :)
Last fall we accidentally got on a highway that runs parallel to I-25, only it is right at the foot of the mountains and is the most beautiful scenic drive you can take around here. Really. So we took this route again, and enjoyed the surroundings. When I say we, I mean Bart & I because I don't think our kiddos are quite at that age where they soak in their environment. I came to this conclusion when Zoe asked for the 20th time to watch a DVD on our drive.
Zoe was pretty excited to get their because we had been promising an amazing playground/slide for her to play on. (Side note: the pink snow boots are now an everyday must for Zoe. Luckily, on this day they sorta matched her outfit. Most days we have quite a fashion statement!)

Growing up in a Christian home, Focus on the Family was a huge part of our "family" education- parenting books, audio books, movies, etc. I loved them as a kid, (except the book titled, Strong Willed Child, that was purchased by my parents most likely with me in mind), and continue to use Focus on the Family as a 'go to' now that I'm a parent. If you're unfamiliar with the organization, check it out: http://www.focusonthefamily.com/
Max taking in the cool fiber optic star gazing room.
Wow!
Oops, this pic is out of order!
Finally, a playground where I don't have to worry about Max
falling or getting trampled by the big kids!
So much fun = messy hair!
Best part, a tasty treat at "Whit's End"
Max now insists on feeding himself...every bite he took, the mom in me thought, "It's going to be a stain-fighting match when we get home! Chocolate stains are the worst!"
But oh so yummy!
Whit's End- very cute and actually tasty too!
For all you Adventures of Odyssey fans out there
After that, we went to drive through the Air Force Academy
Now both Zoe & Max were pretty impressed with these bad boys.
So as we're driving through the grounds, I thought to myself. We are odd parents. First we take them to a place that encourages family, love, nurture, etc., and then we bring them to a place that gets them all into fighter planes, war, mistles, etc. I don't think they'll be confused! :)
Maybe a future pilot?
And crashed on the way home.
