a spring letter to my kiddos

Dear Zoe Girl,
You are my little buddy.  I tell people that all the time.  When Max was teeny tiny, and you were going through your terrible twos stage (thankfully it was much shorter than Max's), I often thought sending you to kindergarten in the future so I could have a break couldn't come soon enough.  Now, I can't even bear that thought because I know I'm going to miss you so much!

You always have a smile and a silly face mixed with a cute giggle to offer me every hour of the day.
Your quirkiness is one of my favorite things about you.

And even though you love to do most things with Mama, Daddy is still your hero.
You love to do anything to get his attention, love and praise, and he's a very good daddy at giving you all of that.  You twirl for him, you sing songs with him, and you ask him "brainy" questions that are right up his alley.

You love your school work, and that makes my job easier.  Your Daddy & I have decided that I will "home school" you for preschool, and you are thrilled about it.  We've dabbled in it this year, and you have impressed me so much with your desire to learn.  You often ask me on days we don't do preschool if you can work in your work book or practice your letters.
Never give up on your desire to learn girlie!

You have a little brother that watches everything you do and looks up to you even if you don't think so.  I pray that you will continue to be a good example to him and show him love your whole life.

When he sees you do something (like blocking the door so Daddy can't get to work),
he is right there to do the exact same thing.

You are a princess.  It's in your blood! :)

Mixed with a flower child.

You've mastered twirling.

You can't wait for your little baby brother to arrive.  You love to feel him in my tummy, you pray for him, you pick out outfits/toys/blankets for him whenever we are in a store, and you always talk about all the ways you are going to help me take care of him.  I know you're going to be such a good helper and big sister.  You already are!

You love water.  Pools, sprinklers, and anything outdoors mixed with water makes your day.

I think you already have a little crush.  When you know Lane is coming to play, you are sure to put a dress on (and in this case, even a crown) to impress him.  Normally I'd be concerned, but I'm okay with this match! :)

You are also a bug lady.  You make "homes" for your insect friends daily.

I have to check your pockets when we come inside or I'm doing laundry to make sure all the rollie pollies and ladybugs are set free (or buried properly).

You are my little lady Zoe, and I am blessed to live in your fairy-bug world.  And in your famous quote to me, "Love you lots and lots and more and more!"
Love,
Mama

Dear Mr. Max,

I tell your Daddy everyday, one look at your mischievous smile melts my heart and somehow takes away all the naughty no goods you've been up to that day.  Your smile is my favorite.  I've learned a lot about you the past weeks as we've tried to conquer this terrible two stage.  I've been reading The Five Love Languages for Children, and it has provoked me to learn exactly what yours are.  I've learned that your love languages are physical touch (hugs, kisses, holding Mommy's hand, snuggling) and quality time.  When I'm very intentional about giving you quality time mixed with Mommy lovin for even just 10-15 minutes everyday, our days just go better.  I'm sorry I haven't clued in on that earlier.  I think your behavior struggles have also stemmed from Mommy's months of not feeling so well due to pregnancy combined with the crazy amounts we have been away from home.  You are a home body, and do much better when we are home where you feel safe and secure.  Both Mommy & Zoe love to get out and about, and I think its very important you learn how to act properly in public settings by getting out. However, I have tweaked (and shortened) our "outings" so that you aren't overwhelmed by the going, going, going.

You're the world's messiest eater and still love to use your hands even though you know how to eat with your silverware.  You sneak as many snacks as possible (or that you can get away with).  You and Zoe both have your Mommy's sweet tooth.  Sorry.

You love life at the farm.  Besides in our home, you are most happy at the Imperial Farm.  You still talk about farming with Grampa and driving tractors on a regular basis.  I love this about you.  Both your Daddy & I have said we'd be tickled if you wanted to farm someday.

Your Daddy is your best friend and hero too.  You look like him (only blond), you act like him, your expressions are like him, and you love to do anything with him.  Your Daddy loves to do "boy things" with you, and I know there will be many adventures ahead for the two of you.

I'm amazed at how much your vocabulary has increased over the past months.  I love to hear you ask questions, tell me stories, and express yourself.  It makes me feel like just by your talking in complete sentences, I'm getting to know and understand you much better.  I've noticed that Zoe calls me Mama, but you call me Mommy-Mommy.  I like how you have your own name for me.
You love your sister.  You pester your sister.  You follow your sister.  You want to do everything like your sister, and you are the first to make sure everything is fair and equal between the both of you.  One day when I dropped off Zoe at a friend's house for a play date, I was so surprised at how often you asked when Zoe was coming back.  She was only gone for a couple of hours, but you missed her soooooo much.

Your favorite toy besides your tractors and matchbox cars is this truck that Ahma & Papa gave your for your 2nd birthday.  They must have really good taste (and good practice raising 4) for little boys!  You play in it as much as possible.  Whenever you first get in it, you wave goodbye to us and tell us you're going to work.  You love your truck, and now that you've ridden in both Papa & Grampa's pickups, you go around pointing out their trucks (pickups that look like theirs) as we drive by them.  You like to tell us that you rode in Papa's truck without Zoe.  A highlight in your life! :)

You too love to play outside and in the water.  You'd much rather dump the water out instead of actually play in it though.

You are our little goofy.  You love to say things to get a laugh.  Unfortunately, your latest hang up is on the word "poopy".  You add poopy to anything and immediately bust out in laughter.  You continue to do this because your big sister thinks you're hilarious and gives you a good audience.  We've been working on not saying that word, yet somehow it slips out 10 times everyday.  Poopy this, poopy that.  You also thank God for your paci (which gets a laugh out of Zoe) when you say your prayers at night.  No matter how straight faced your Daddy & I keep, you persist on saying it so at least Zoe will laugh.  Does this mean you 're a potential class clown?  Oh dear!

Max, you are my lovie, and no matter what stages we all go through, our love for you and your siblings will never change.  You bring so many smiles and laughs to our world.  Thanks for always giving me lots of hugs all on your own and telling me that you "luff me" so often.  It makes my day.
Love,
Mommy

Dear Baby #3,
I can't believe that in 3 months, we will be holding you in our arms!  I'm so excited and curious as to what you'll look like and your personality will be like.  Zoe and Max have such unique personalities and different looks, I can't even imagine what your special traits will be!

You have grown soooooo much in the past 2 months that I keep telling you its okay if you want to be a small baby and then grow up fast after you come out! :)  Your Daddy jokes and calls you Samson b/c my tummy is soooo big already.  I still have 3 months to go, or should I say, you still have 3 months to grow!

These are all from  your 20 week ultrasound where we found out you were a boy!  Both Mommy & Daddy were 99% sure you were a boy before they even confirmed your "parts". :)  I spared you by not putting up that ultrasound pic.  Max is very excited to have a little brother and even has said he wants your name to be Max too.  He asks me almost everyday "when baby come out of there?" as he rubs my belly.   Just yesterday he asked me if my tummy was going to pop!  It feels like it is going to.  Why is that the more pregnancies you have, the more uncomfortable you are?  Shouldn't your tummy be used to all that stretching and movement?  Zoe is very excited for you to join us too, and has big plans for all the things you two will do.  I'm sure she will be the one that holds you the most.

This picture is my favorite.  The ultrasound tech even laughed b/c she said it looked like you were doing yoga stretches.  Your legs are bent over so much.  Maybe you will be super flexible like your sister Zoe.  At this ultrasound you were measuring big or ahead, so I'm wondering if you'll keep that growth up.

And little feet are always cute.  Especially yours.  I feel your feet a lot.  You LOVE to kick, kick, kick.  In fact, I didn't think anyone could beat Zoe & Max's movement in my tummy, but you  have done so my little friend.  You like to remind me that you're there all day long.

I already love you so much and pray for you.  We can't wait to meet our 2nd little boy!  I hope and pray that I can be a good Mother to you!

Love,
Your Mama
