But I
sure LOVE
my kiddos!
So I made a "To Do" list 2 pages long, and I have only 1 thing left to cross off. Oh what a good feeling. I'm that person that gets pure satisfaction when I draw a line through an item I've completed. I'm also that person that has a hard time going to bed when there is that last thing I didn't get to cross off the list. My list was so long b/c Bart & I are heading to the border (Well quite a bit south of that actually) for a 5 day Romantic Getaway in Mexico. This is big deal for us 1) Because we are soooooo excited to just relax, SLEEP IN, be diaper/booger/mess free, and enjoy just the two of us again! AND 2) This is the FIRST time we've left our children over night. (We've left Zoe overnight, but not Max, and not either one of them for 5 whole days!). So as thrilled as I am, I've got a little bit of anxiety creepin in as I know I'm going to miss my little babes! I know they are in good hands as my Mom & my sisters are going to come & watch the kiddos, but I just have those natural mother "nerves". Someone gave me good advice on this matter, "As good as it is for you and your husband to get away from your kiddos for awhile, it will be good for your kiddos to get away from you guys too!" Wow, never thought of it like that. Of course they're going to love being able to spend time w/MeMa & their wonderful Aunties! Of course they will enjoy having variety and less rules/schedule in their day! And of course they will appreciate that MeMa will most likely wear normal outfits as opposed to my super stylin sweat outfits I rotate throughout the week! And now for some random, yet useless information about my preparations for the trip; here's what I've been up to:
- Make frozen meals for the week. Check. (Why don't I do this more often-just double up whatever we're having for that night so we can have it again in a couple weeks! Light bulb!)
- Pack for myself and NO ONE else! Check. I'll have you know that almost every outfit I packed involves a dress or skirt. I am girly like that and will take advantage of wearing girly, frilly things that won't get wrecked by little grubby hands! :)
- Work out more so I'll be in shape for our trip. Um, can't check that one off. Who am I kidding? That Dancing with the Stars Dance video that I half did while holding Max & drinking a pop at the same time isn't doin a thing! Oh well. My kiddos keep me busy- does that count?
- Buy some new shades. Check. As many of you know, I am a rather petite person with a freakishly small face, making sunglasses shopping a rather difficult job. Solution- shop the kids' section. Score! I now own some Barbie Sunglasses. You think I'm kidding. I will post pictures of my new shades to prove you otherwise. I feel quite confident in them.
- Organize my kitchen cupboards/shelves so mom can find these easily. Check. In EVERY single one of my bottom cupboards, Max left little surprises for me. How sweet & thoughtful of him! I found one of his shoes we've been looking for FOREVER, a paci (and we always need an extra one of those around), 3 cars/truck, and some leftover graham cracker.
