the only other main event that occurred in november was max's big #3 birthday! the great thing about boys is they like their birthday parties pretty simple. when i asked him where he wanted to have his birthday party, he answered at mema & grampa's farm house. duh mom. when i asked what kind of birthday he'd like, his answer was a lightning mcqueen birthday. another no brainer. when i asked what he wanted for his birthday, there was no surprise when max's answer was a tractor & a new mcqueen car. so that made my job easy. i went to walmart to get the cheap lightning mcqueen party supply set, had already boughten him a lightning mcqueen car set at the disney store awhile back when they were on clearance, and the only thing left to do was get in the car and head home to nebraska. so that's what we did. and as simple as max's b-day party preperation was, i think he had the best birthday ever.
grampa singing happy birthday to max....
notice how max isn't even getting off the ride on tractor to blow out his candle! :)
my favorite pic of the bday party...zoe was soo excited for max to open his presents.
it was pretty sweet to watch.

the other highlight, the cats.
max tried soooo hard all weekend long to get those cats to ride in the trailer.
they actually did for awhile.
poor cats.
zoe got in a few rides too.
and a few cat snuggling as well!
beautiful nebraska sunset.
colorado isn't the only beautiful scenic place!

one of the milestones max had to cross when he turned 3 was to give up his paci. this was his last night with it. apparently rain boots need to be worn to bed too.
*disclaimer: yes i know 3 years is a long time to let a kid have a pacifier, BUT our pediatrician said as long as it goes by 3, we're ok. so of course i waited till the day he turned 3. don't judge me! ;) on a good note: max did awesome giving up his paci. much easier than i thought. after 1 night of a few tears & asking for it, he broke off his long term relationship with the paci! PTL!!
